gas tank wont eat!!
hi guys. this is my first post so bare w/ me. the other day i tried putting gas into my car after the fuel guage had fallen slightly below a quarter of a tank. i got about 3 bucks in it when it just cut off and wouldnt take anymore gas. ive heard of the gas tank doing this before. my cousin said it has happened to him on his ls1 but i dont know how to fix it. i tried again yesterday and it did the same crap and tomorrow im leaving Fl and i want to be able to make it. any suggestions??
The check valve at the tank inlet must be sticking. You could take off the fill hose and check it. It should push in by hand. Either that or its full and fuel level sensor is bad.

well i know its not full bc ive been driving for about a week w/o filling it up.how do i get to the fill hose to check it? and when i do what would i be looking for?
I also had this problem. You are either building up too much heat in your gas tank and the pressure is keeping the valve closed, or it is stuck closed. You can take out a piece of plastic from the wheel well, and take off the plastic and rubber trim around the gas cap. Then there will be a bracket with a 10mm bolt you will have to take out. The filler neck is in two pieces; metal and rubber hose. There is a clamp where these two connect. Remove this clamp and then take the metal part out through the gas tank door. Now there is only the rubber hose. Take a plastic clothes hanger and break it in half. Metal hanger may cause a spark, this would be bad. Jam the plastic clothes hanger down the filler neck a few times, and loosen the valve. You'll know when you've hit it.
well i got it workin. i know this may sound stupid but i figured id say anyway. everytime ive had this happen, i had the key in the on position. it did it to me again today and so i decided to turn it all the way off and take the key out, and then it worked. this may just be coincidence but i just wanted to let u guys know just in case.

Well, for one thing, with the key on, the fuel pump will prime and build pressure in the lines. In LS1 cars, the fuel system is a closed loop back to the tank from the fuel rails, so I would think the pressure would be fed back into the tank and might be enough to seal off the valve in the fill tube.
like i said, i wasn't sure if it would. just thought i would say. i thought it may have been a safety feature or something like that, but bamajohn made a good point
Yea..it took me a while but i thought that might have been the problem so i tried at night and it worked. i also turned the car off all the way so i wasnt sure if it was one or the other or even both
