Default what size injector?

Hey guys i'm installing new motor, and not sure what injector size and fuel pump i should use. Here is what I have: Iron 6.0 .40 over, custom Je pistons, lunati probillet rods, head studs, A.R.E. ported ls1 heads that flow 305@ 600 lift (has 2.02 and 1.6 valves) and MS3 cam. Lid, ported throttle body, slp 85 maf, ls6 intake full bolt ons...
Stage II trans with 3200 vig (speed Inc) etc.

I plan on spraying a 250 shot of giggle gas...
I still have 28.8 lbs injectors now, but will 36 or 42 be enough for what I want to do thanks...

Here you go:

36 or 42 lb/hr @ 3 Bar will be fine. Is the nitrous a wet or dry shot?

just remember the rail pressure, really it adds up to your selection. the 28.8 il/hr you have are giving 28.8 lb/hr @ 58 psi, if the pressure is different, the flow rate will be somthing else.

Another thing to consider, the duty cycle, you need injectors that have duty cycle about 70% at WOT and max MAP, and duty cycle of 3~4% at idle.

its not even about the tuner, its about the INJECTOR MINIMUM OPERATING CHARACTERISTICS. No one freakin understand that do they?

injectors will only open/close and operate at such a small pulsewidth/ms, you try and go beyond that and you RUN RICH AT IDLE REGARDLESS OF THE TUNER.

grab you some 42# injectors or the 48# injectors

to give ya an idea
MY STICKY
https://ls1tech.com/forums/fueling-injection/293742-fuel-injector-size-calculator-fuel-pump-chart.html

website:
http://www.rceng.com/technical.aspx

if you need help interrpreting it let me know, I can explain everything.

IF the 42# injectors are rated at 43.5psi...which unless racetronix changed the ratings lately to something else
those 42# injectors ACTUALLY AT 58psi OUR FUEL RAIL PRESSURE
are 48# injectors

and the 48# injectors would be 55# injectors..(these 55# probably a bit much for ya and may idle rich)

so yeh with either of those you are good to 550+ N/A rear wheel horse power EASILY

I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING 60# injectors UNLESS YOU ARE MAKING HIGH 6xxHP or HIGHER 700+ rear wheel

to give you an example my friend is running 39# injectors making 480HP and 423TQ N/A

you are honestly the guy(s) screwing quite a few people when they think they can buy 60# injectors and just think they are going to work. you need to evaluate IF they are going to ACTUALLY use all of the injector and NOT IDLE RICH... because they will be back on here asking... oh hell i'm idling rich and my tuner can't get it to not idle rich.. .whats wrong with my tuner who else can i go to and it will be a big fiasco when its the INJECTORS FAULT, and not the tuner.

you are one of the many that gave me a reason to inform people and educate people on injectors and the main reason I have to be all over this section along with helping people with selecting injectors

I agree, partly. If one had all of the correct injector data it would be relatively simple to tune for the larger injectors, but correct injector data is one of the hardest data points to find.

I believe in using the injector that's RIGHT SIZED for the application. Now knowing one would want a little room for growth there is nothing wrong with stepping up a LITTLE.

For most NA 346 ci applications, 36 lb/hr @ 3 bar injectors are plenty adequate with room to grow. For larger ci NA applications, 42 lb/hr @ 3 bar are usually plenty adequate.

Whatever injector you go with, make sure you use one that has some known data points to tune with.

With a N2O wet shot, the fuel is supplied from an alternate source other than the injector. This will place additional load on the fuel pump and transfer system, but not the injectors.

36 lb/hr injectors @ 3 bar are 41 lb/hr @ 4 bar and will easily support the power you have now. The 42 lb/hr @ 3 bar will be fine also, and allow for more HP in the future.

42 should be the MAX you would need. Don't go bigger than what you need. It won't damage your motor like too small would do. But you will get poorer fuel atomization. Otherwise we would all have 60# injectors from the factory.
