Stock Ford cases are prone to crack like the pictures above even in stock F Series trucks (unless they are factory Ford nodular ones). Go with a Strange or a Moser center section. I'm going to be ordering a Moser 9" soon from Bob at Brute Speed because he can get me the rear in a few days. My 10 bolt is done. I blew up a 4.10 one, and I put the stock 3.42 rear back in and now it is barely limping too. I feel everyone elses pain on cost, but heck, a 10 bolt is $750 to rebuild. So you are basically 2-3 explosions away from paying for a 9".

you will pull the pinion support out of a stock case at some point and time. it always takes out the driveshaft and ring and pinion. it can tear up the tranny as well. spend the couple hundred bucks on the strange, or yukon case.
its cheap insurance.

Default My QP install prices

here is what i have into my QP 9", ( all prices are after shipping )

1.) housing and axle package (31 spline), i bought mine on ebay so the adjustable lower control arm brackets were included $1065 shipped
2.) QP billet 1350 yoke $85
3.) QP center section rebuild kit $78
4.) Motive 3.70 gears $135,( although the center section i bought had 3.50 gears that would have worked i decided to upgrade while it was apart.
5.) QP Drag racing spool $115
6.) 1344 to 1350 conversion u joint $51
7.) used UMI adjustable torque arm with tunnel mount $300, again another upgrade, i could have used my non adjustable edelbrock torque arm but decided to upgrade for the strength factor
8.) Longer Torque arm bolts from UMI $25
9.) 1 can of primer $6, 2 cans of gloss black $15, 1 can of Silver met paint $6
10.) used center section out of 77 bronco, $50
11.) 2- 3" muffler clamps $7

so thats a total of $1938, still not bad considering this setup should def. take me into the low 10's maybe high 9's

I might be in the market for a new rear end set up just as long as it's within my budget. This one is tempting but I still like the Dana S60... the one I priced out on Spohn came out to about $2,540 and I have a buddy who said would help me out with LCA's and a TArm. The QP9 looks like it would be $2,170 shipped. I don't know what else it would take to get the either installed. I'm guessing neither come ready to be bolted in(?). I don't have any special tools nor do I know how to weld. I'm looking more to install the unit right after it comes off the delivery truck

Tried to find it mentioned earlier, but what aluminum driveshaft are you all with QP 9" running? Most places list theirs as Moser or Strange 9" conversion driveshafts. Is there a difference between all the 9" dimensions?

I haven't found a difference in lengths between the various manufacturers of 9 inch rears. I sell a lot of PST 3.5" aluminum driveshafts for 9 inch, 10 & 12 bolt rears. Take a look at this link. http://shop.brutespeed.com/PST-DRA35...-PST-DRA35.htm Thanks. Bob
