In order to make the rear work, either you will have to use your tubes from your factory 7.5, build new bracketry, and fab either a torque arm mount, or four link the rear. my suggestion is to build your own bracketry, and build your own bolt-on torque arm.

^thank you, I think I have the Torque Arm bracket taken care of.
What exactly do you mean by bracketry.
BTW does anyone have any pictures of how they did the brackety and T/A?
Thank you

I am using a rear out of a 94 cobra, and just welded the brackets off a 10 bolt. I am going to use the stock brakes off the mustang! The is some real fab work involved in doing this. Also the explorer wont work in a f-body the pinion is offset 2 3/4 of a inch to the passenger side. I ordered axle from moser in 31 spline 94-98 length and in chevy 5-4-3/4 and re dilling the rotor hats to fit

only thing is the mustang rear is 4" narrower then the stock 10 bolt! I went with 15x10 billet specialties in 5.5 backspacing. Here are few things i have found out over the last few weeks 79-93 8.8 with 4 lug axles are 59 1/2 inches overall and 94-98 are 61" overall and a stock 10 bolt is 65" overall that is from outside of the rotor hat to outside rotor hat on each rear. I will make a thread for this build when some more of my parts come in.

Man going through all that work and still having an 8.8 just does not seem worth all the effort. Cool concept I suppose. Upgrade Options, Girdle, 9" Ends, Axle Shafts, Eaton or Truetrac, 1350 Pinion Yoke are what I would recommend. let me know if we can help you out.

the length of the donor rear isn't important because you use the tubes from the 10 bolt mine has the 10 bolt tubes pressed onto the 8.8 tubes so all the brackets are still there and do not need to be re welded. So that means the explorer rear can still be used cause you can center it when you splice the tubes.

explorer rear works just dandy... and for the record, its almost 5.5 inches narrower than the 7.5 stock. and no, i didnt reuse the factory axle tubes. i have already talked to one member, and he is in the process of building a VERY stout car... if it tests well behind mine, and behind his, i may consider duplicating some housings/t.a. provisions. and i am with the fella up a few posts, stock explorer brakes for me in the rear
