Default torsen question

how should a torsen diff act when the wheels are off the ground and you spin the tire?. when i do it the other wheel spins at the same speed in the same direction. then if i stop for a minute and tun it again the other wheel wont even move for about 1/2 a rotation. is this normal? im trying to track down a clunking noise that only happens when i take a left. i cant tell if its suspension or diff. if i dont get an answer ill probably pull off the cover later

did you spin them when the car was in gear/park or neutral? If it was in gear/park one wheel should spin the same rpm in the opposit direction, if the trans isnt in gear/park the drive shaft will spin and the wheels will just do whatever they want.

Yes, its normal. When you turn the rear wheel in one direction - the adjacent wheel will spin in the opposite direction.

The clunking you hear is normal...let me guess...if you coast at 30mph and turn the wheel to the left or right you hear it? My 1st torsen was broken and the car would one wheel pulling out on stones etc. with a new torsen pulling out on stones loose gravel etc both wheels will move the car.

well i popped the cover off and found nothing wrong. the right side axle tube was leaking so i jacked up the body and let the suspension sag while i welded the tube on and nothing changed

Do you mean that your original Torsen did that because it was broken? Mine is doing that EXACTLY. Now it's starting to make other noises as well. I'm beginning to hear a whining from the rear getting higher pitched as I increase in speed. On top of this, the drivetrain feels quite "loose," unlike any other fbody Ive driven. Does anyone know if this sounds like a bad torsen?
