Default Richmond or Motive gears?? & 2-series?

Was wondering which gear set is better richmond or motive? Want to get some 3.73's, but dont know which ones will be best. Richmond sell for more so those that mean they are better? And finally what does it mean by 2-series set?... thanks guys

do some reading in the gears and axles section. Richmonds are known to be noisier but stronger. Motive seems to be pretty quiet and pretty strong. I have Motive Performance 3.73s in mine.

If you have 2.73's in your car then your carrier is a series 2 which means its skinner and the ring is thicker. On a series 3 carrier which is 3.23 on up the carrier is bigger and the gear is thinner. With that said richmond's are noisy try motive or even strange. I'd like to find someone with strange's 3.90 gear set in an auto and see how they like it.

I had Strange (US Gear) 3.42s for several years and they were quiet, plenty strong as well. Several dozen days at the drag strip and they never gave out.

When I upgraded to 3.73 I went with Richmonds and regretted it. Very noisy and annoying on long cruises at highway speeds and around town.

I recently had them replaced with Motives and I'm not impressed. The etched measurements on the pinion were wrong (unless "P" is a number) and they whine on deceleration. Seems they moved manufacturing to S. Korea at some point.

If these don't work out, either Strange or AAM (SLP sells them) are going in FTW.

My last set of gears were Richmonds and they were both noisy and weak. Died on my 8th ever track launch. . . .(4.30 ratio btw. . .)
