Question Need a strong driveshaft for my 9" combo

what do you guys recommend? i know there are aluminum, chromoly, steel, carbon fiber etc. and they come in different diameters... what should i look into for my 02 ss putting a 9" in it in the next few weeks.

I'd recomend a chromoly shaft if you're pushing the hp and drag race the car alot. I bought mine from Eric at Mid West Chassis. Has a great price on the Strange 3" chromo shafts with forged yoke, ends, and 1350 u-joints, in any length you need.

I've always leered away from the aluminum shafts (stock and aftermarket) and you couldn't pay me to use a carbon fiber ds.

I like my 3.5" aluminum from PST. It's rated at 1200hp with a lifetime warranty. I got mine from Bob@EPP.

Denny's Nitrous Ready shaft. Fantastic quality, probably the best reputation for driveshafts in cars under 2500hp. I have one, the fit and finish are is amazing!

Great price, great warranty, and even better service!

A classic that has been proven for many years. I hear they are quite heavy though?

I am going with a strange chrome moly that I am getting through midwest chassis with my 9" from him.

I picked up my Strange 3" chromo shaft for 315.00/shipped from Eric at Mid West Chassis a couple months ago. I think the part of the phone conversation that sold me the most was when Eric told me he runs 9's in his 4000lb convertible Fbody with this same driveshaft. And the price is hard to beat too lol....

I paid ~$300 for my Strange chromoly. A bit heavy, but it was a good value for the money.
The aluminum ones are nice, but the price differential was not worth it for me.

I got my DS from MWC when I bought the 9"... So, i am assuming its a chromoly. But, damn, it was much heavier then the stock on I thought it was a steel DS.

If you got the Strange ds from MWC, I think I've read that it's about 2.5 to 3 pounds heavier than a stock aluminum shaft depending on length.

LOL,,, maybe you got the extra heavy iron version then.? I just weighed it, and a stock aluminum shaft is only 10.7 lbs total with yoke, and there is no way in hell my Strange shaft was twice that. Granted it was heavier, but no where near twice as much, plus the chromo shaft I got was longer. Next time I pull the Strange ds out, I'll weigh it on the same digital scale. I'm very curious now.

Yea, Im tryingt to get a hold of Erik at Midwest Chassis to let him know about my axle seal leak.. When he responds, ill see if he can tell me what DS I got sent.
When I put it in last year, I could have swore it was at least twice as heavy.
