Which vehicle and year would come with 28 spline and 4.10's ??

I'm looking at using that center section, welding the 10 bolt axle tubes onto it, and reusing the 10 bolt axles...

I don't think any years came with 4.10s but the 28 spline center section comes in all mustang 8.8s aside from the 03-04 cobras but they have IRS so the housing is useless to you.

Oh okay, I was under the impression that most of the Mustangs were 31 spline, and that some Explorers and Ranger's came with 4.10's.

The pinion on the Explorer housing is offset.

it doesn't matter if the axle tubes are cut to fit the 10 bolt tubes.

I recently cut my 92 explorer axle to find an inside dimension on 2.880" ID and the camaro axle measures 2.645" OD. So I am now in the process of sleeving ford axle to accept the camaro axle. Fun stuff!!!

If you just use a 28 spline Ford posi, just make sure your new rear is the same width as a stock F-body 10bolt and reuse your stock F-body axles. I did the same thing a few years back and ran 9.80's before I finally broke the stock 10bolt axle at the track. The setup worked very well but I ended up trading it with a friend, built a new Moser 12bolt since I needed gears, axles spool etc...

I found this yesterday and would alliviate all problems in measuring the to make the TQ arm mount aside from the positioning on the center section.

This way it's really just swap the axle tubes and weld this on, then fill the housing with your choice of components and go to town.....Personally I'm going to go with a Strange Diff (clutch type LSD) with 33 spline axles and c-clip eliminators. That should hold up to just about anything a little ole LTx can throw at it....

Has anybody thought about using the aftermarket mustang torque arms they have that are made for the 8.8? Looks like it would be a very easy set up, get the 8.8 pumpkin, weld on your factory tubes, mount the torque arm to the diff and weld the front mount in somehow, probably to a piece of tube between your sfc's. Should be pretty simple unless I'm missing something...

Now planning to find an explorer rear with 4.10/4.56 (31 spline) and just get custom axles from Moser. Would cost about the same anyway since I'd have to buy gears for a Mustang rear....and still be weaker with the 28 splines.

What exactly are you all using to weld the tubes on and the TA mount??

Also still reading up on whether to weld a torque arm mount or to go with a ladder bar setup. Thoughts?

Straight from Currie Enterprises......PT# CE-7009. retails for about $150.

It's exactly what they use on their 9" rear that they sell for bolt in applications....Just an FYI.

would this short arm setup be good for a 10bolt? im swapping in a lsx/th350 in a 94 camaro and im contemplating switching to a short arm setup. i would box the stock ones and weld tabs to the rear end (as well as weld the axle tubes). how long should i make the top set of arms be?
