Default 9" tilting up

put on a 9" in my 2000 trans am, but it tilts up without the torque arm. Is that normal? Also I have a umi torque arm and hits the under car (drivers side) when I down shift or do a hard takeoff. Thanks for any info.

have you checked / adjusted your pinion angle? By tilts up, do you mean the pinion tilts up (towards the tunnel) ? Do you have a short torque arm ( tunnel mounted )?

yea it tilts up towards the tunnel without the torque arm on. Have the umi tunnel brace mounted adjustable torque arm (part#2203).

this is normal, put a floor jack underneath the rear end and jack it up into the car some, this will help rotate the rearend back down.

Actually when you jack it up the Rear points up more.. when the full weight of the Car is on it is when it sits closest to level. I know this cause I put my new Torque Arm in the other day.

With the Rear in the air put a Jack under the Swap Bar and lift it there..that will help straighten it out.

Your torque arm should have multiple set's of holes where it mounts to the center section. Mount the torque arm as close to the center section as possible. this will keep you from hitting the tunnel. UNLESS your car is lowered and the top bolt on the torque arm is hitting. Other than that, you should be fine.

Mine hits too..that big steel Bracket that bolts to the Moser Housing smacked a nice little hole in the Tunnel back there. This happened at the track on my launches, street driving is fine.

Well I'm going to put my stock springs and shocks on see if that helps. Raise it up a little only on the back.
