2:73s to 3:73s here...perfect...juuuussstttt enough to hook in a auto...4:10s are alittle crazy for traction with an auto, and the shock load from 1st to 2nd is going to eat your 10bolt alive...you can utilize 4:10s better in a m6...but whatever have at it.. I really don't see how you can hook with 4:10s in a a4..Most of the time I have to baby my car off the line with 73s to get it to "go" and not spin...

I had a 3:90 with my M6 and went to 3:73, I like it better. Would love to sell the 3:90 though, has less than 100K on them.

I switched from m6 to 4000 stall with the 4.10's it is great for 1/4 mile and around town. More for the street driving fun. I could put up with it for a small amount of time 50 miles or less on the interstate.
However this is not my daily driver and would not take it on a 6 hour road trip.
It is what you want. I would say try a 3.73 ratio

We went from 3.08s to 4.10s... we saw a 25% increase in cruise RPM and a 100% increase in smiles! It really makes a difference in how the car accelerates while driving down the road. Also there is more to life than ETs at the strip; the added gearing makes the car feel lighter because the engine doesn't have to leverage as hard against the gears to get the car moving quicker.

110mph comes on real fast now too... I really have to watch what I am doing when passing.
