Default for 9 in center section

for the FI guys who are running ford 9in what center section are you running? Im wanting to know if its ok to run the stock center section or is it a must to run a aftermarket one due to the hp rate. Im hoping to run mid 8's in the car. I know its not the same as launching a nitrous car so there will not be as much shock on the rear end so is it ok to run a stock center section. thanks

If you can afford the iron nodular, go that route, BUT, I did run a stock center section in my TT Camaro running low 9's @ 150+mpg and it weighed 3600lbs.

Just run a stock center, that's what I did!

This was in the 10s even on low 10 psi with 16 degrees timing 6,000 RPM launch (manual)

Go Nodular or Aluminum stock centers are weak!

With his PG and turbo setup, he will never launch @6000rpm off the t-brake, and will never shock the rearend like you do with the manual. You are comparing apples to orange's in his situation. A stock unit will work well if the budget is tight , especially if you just want to get the car running and get some test pass's in. BUT get a aftermarket case if you can afford to do so the first time.

yeah I know the manual is alot harder on things than an auto could ever be which is why Im forced to switch. Just wanted to show the worst case scenario. I just think a good Nod or Aluminum is a worthwhile investment because its alot easier to do it right the first time than to pay for the carnage later... You should see the dent in my floor!

I would avoid a stock Ford center section, I've known a few folks who have broken them in the high 10's and low 11's.

I have a 31 spline spool over here if you are interested.

Heres another reason to not run a stock center... Looks almost identical to z28boys... This was when my 6 speed car was running high elevens... Can really ruin some **** when they do this... Pretty bad that my 390 rwhp 3400 pound car can do that to it, but its proof that stock centers are weak...

if you go aluminum make sure you're getting a through-bolt case like a moser or mark williams unit
