98-02 driveshaft material question
I was recently swapping the trans on my car and noticed I have a dinky steel driveshaft. I was under the impression all 98-02 LS1 cars had aluminum driveshafts? Granted, I heard this casually mentioned years ago... it could be complete BS.
just wondering if this means my driveshaft has been replaced at some point in time

you also mentioned she has 3.42's? I didn't know any a4's came with this.... but if you bought it brand new and it has a steel d/s and 3.42's obviously there are some exceptions!

No Gen 4 A4s came with 3.42s ever. Like I said it must have been a Monday car. Sounds like it was supposed to be a 2.73 car and some how that got screwed up.

To the best of my knowledge ( which may be limited) any SS with OE gear set above 2.73' came OE alu DS and no OE A4' came OE with any gear set above 3.23.
