Default What Happened?

i had 3.73 put in this winter, i got the car out this spring and broke in my gears. Drove it 500 miles, and didn't hear a thing, changed the fluide and race a few on the streets and all was good. then couple days later it started to wine just a little bit. Now its get louder every day i drive, where they not broken in yet?

what brand of gears were they? I think its either a hit or miss on the noise really. Mine wind to up around 55 mph but I have 4.10's. Or they might have been installed wrong. It also could have been from you changing the oil.

They whine. It started as a very small whine, (car is a DD) then a little bit every day it got louder, its now at the point i don't listen to music any more, because i can't hear over the whine

Perhaps your pinion nut and or crush sleeve has gotten out of whack. Wouldnt be a bad idea to check it.

I had the exact same problem. Turned out to be a pinion bearing. It got so loud I refused to drive my car til I got it fixed. I now have a new rearend with 4.10's, quiet as can be.

So atleast I was pretty close to what the problem was. There are 3 different kits at Summit that have what you need as far as bearings and seals. For gears I like Richmond gears.
