Got my 8.8 Housing Finished Today

nice job on the conversion!
i think he was asking, are the axles from the f-body rear, or the mustang...i would assume the stang, because you're using their center.
on a side note, did you come up with a solution to the c-clips? the mustang c-clip eliminators wont work on the f-body housing ends...

well I got an 8.8 out of a fox body mustang which were 28 spline and my TA had 28 spline so I just stuck it together as is... I figured I would and wait until I broke something at least before i went crazy upgrading stuff. I got my 8.8 with a posi and 3.73 gears, very cheap so that was the to go for me. but since you got to cut the axle tube's off the 8.8 it really don't matter what kind of car or truck you get it from... I will tell you that the truck housings are alot stronger as the axle tubes and in general are bigger due to the weight of a truck compared to a car like a crown vic or stang, which I;m not sure if it is over kill or not... it might be just adding extra weight for no reason...

Well i broke the bolt that holds the front of the LCA on the passenger side of the car. If you guys go with the mini 4 link set up, you might want to have those boxes reinforced. I am going to play hookie today and take my TA to some place to straighten out that box and weld on some plates with bolt holes.

Turns out I did not break the bolt, that is what i get for trying to inspect the car at midnight when i got home from work. I had been checking tightness on nuts on the various rear suspension parts, since i installed this rear, but missed this one. The nut came off and the bolt started backing out through the bushing, kind of a dead giveaway that something was wrong, the car felt like it was darting slightly to either side when i let off the gas. It has a damn locknut on it now...
