Default 10 bolt power limits ??

Ok here we go I have this 95 Z with 383 stroker and a D1SC ..so far Ive seen about 6.5 lbs of boost ...car is a A4 with a stock converter and a 373 ..325 MT DR's I want to take it to the track ...how much abuse will the rearend take ?
I plan on footbraking to around 1800 and lettin it go...shift it around 6000 to 6200 on the first pass ..i dont want to kill the trans or axle ...what do you guys think ???

the 10 breaks because of people sending too much shock through it. A4 cars have done 1.5 60fts but that doesnt mean they will live long doing it.

Some have great luck with the 10 bolt other guys break it with a m6 & street tires. its a crap shoot.

You have alot of power going for you along with the potential for alot of traction with those 325 drag radials. You have an auto so it will be a bit easier on the rear than an M6. But you're still taking a gamble. The harder you hook the greater the risk. Unfortunately, there is no magic number on when it will let go.

In your case, have a contingency plan ready when you go to the track.

Ive never dynoed my car, but I have pulled some 1.5s on my stock 10 bolt with GM 3.73 gears in it. The passes were all in the mid 11 to 11.3s @ 120s

383 here as well. Not a real slick though, just drag radials.

Has absolutely nothing to do with power. It's shock, and traction.

Shock load it hard and cut deep 60 foots and it's going to break. You could have a ton of power and never put a tire on it and it will live a long time.

yeah I understand the shock load theory ..i have broken 12 bolt axles and 12 bolt diffs ...I doubt it will hook...so hopefully it survives the abuse ...I will post times and results when i get it to the track...

I have the Sumi's as well, the ones that look like Goodyear Eagle F1's, and they hook pretty damn good for a street tire

I love these threads...
With a almighty 290hp and 310tq I have broken 3 ten bolts. Stock is to much for them. Which is why I bought the Strange 12. I use Nitto 555 extreme street radials. Rest of mods in sig. The 10 bolt was to weak for 3rd gen cars and its worse for 4th gens. Note: car is a a4 and I have never been to a track.
