So what ford cars that have the 8.8 have same ofrclose overall axle length? ie Which would fit a F-body the best? F-body rearends are hard to find and expensive (here) so I figure maybe I need to look for something less obvious. Obviously posi is important so any Ford vehicles meet those specs?

How did GM make it all these years without qualified internet opinions on vehicle function . I suppose every fbody should have come with 6-7-800rwhp options too? For the 1% of fbody owners (maybe 2?) that pound the **** out of them, it would have been hard to justify the business case to make a 9" OE on 100%...wouldn't it?

Just an FYI on this subject...I've been doing a lot of reading on this because I want to have a bullet proof drivetrain before I start racing this thing. Ford Racing sells brand new 8.8 rears for about $1000 and Currie will install 93-02 Fbody brackets for $350. All that's left is to figure out the torque arm mount. Not a bad option for under $1500 if you ask me.

The
The Mark 7 from 86-92 SHOULD have the Trac-Lock 8.8 in it with 3.08 gears. The housing is the same width as any fox body 8.8.
Mustang GT's from 86-2004 use a Trac-Lock 8.8, some with varying gear ratio's, but mostly 3.08 and 3.27. 86-98 uses the exact same housing, the only difference between the rears is the backing plates, which unbolt, and the axle lengths, which make no difference if you're going to modify them for F-body use. The 99-04's use the same center section, but the axle tubes are longer. The exact length difference eludes my memory right now. I am pretty sure it's somewhere along the lines of 1.25" difference on each side.
The Mark 8 uses independent rear suspension, and an aluminum carrier. I'm not positive if it's possible to make this work with a stick axle or not.
There are a handful of other 8.8 applications, such as pickup trucks, Explorers, and some other misc things like that, but I don't know the years.

Idk on the exact width of the rear end but i know the mark 7s are 3 in less wide than fbodies. should be 3.27 ratio its an 8.8 idk about posi i dont think the 7s did idk about the 8s. i think 7s started in 87 and 8s started in like 96
