Default Will it ever end? :(

So i was driving home, hit a nasty little pot hole came to the light stopped. when i started again it sounded like metal on metal scraping as soon as i gave it any gas. if i just ease into it and stay below 20mph nothing, as soon as u make it squat or break 20mph it sounds like metal on metal. i got it up in the air i see nothing abnormal, i dont have a second hand to spin it for me while i listen or i could pin point it and just putting it in first and lettin out on the clutch it doesnt make any noises. any ideas?

could be a bearing. bearings are tricky, sometimes they won't make noise unless there is pressure or weight on them.

check bearings ... push in on the wheel and kind of wiggle it around to see if there is any irregular play ....

whooop whoop

dont feel any play in the wheels, when i spin one both spin easy no issues.. when i try to spin it fast it sounds like something slips in the driveshaft area and makes a clunk then grabs again.

Sounds like its time to take the diff cover off... I just had to put a new rear in my car a month ago because of a similar issue. Mine also seemed normal at low speeds but when I would turn or drive above like 30 it would click... ended up being the spider gears

Good luck with it

Axle or axle bearing? When my bearing let go my 87, it felt like i was about to fall off the face of the earth.

Took the diff cover off, rotors, brakes/mounts, i see no abnormal wear anywhere. No metal on the magnet what so ever. put the rotors/brakes back on still nothing. checked every tooth, no scratches dings dents bends nothing. i am stumped. if i spin it really fast i hear the sound but cant pinpoint it with out a 2nd hand to spin while i listen. guess the next step will be to pull the axles there is maybe 1500 miles on the rear, all new everything from bearings, seals, royal purple, etc.

Maybe one of your caliper slides is worn or not lubed well and you had a pad scraper rubbing? Worn pads?

So i took it back out today after changing the bearings/seals again. and now im hearing/feeling it from behind the tranny around the DS. it doesnt sound like metal on metal now its more like metal on some other surface and i feel the car bumping every time it scrapes. what would this be?

edit: did a search and after about 50 threads found one exactly the same, now that i think about it i had a whine that was very faint if i coasted but went away with accel or clutch pressed in. someone told him u joints. he never posted results or anything so not sure, gurus step in plz
