Any demand for a bolt in torque arm style 8.8 ??
I built this one for my car and was wondering if there was enough demand I may team up with a sponsor to start selling these things. I know however they wont be cheap but they should still be cheaper than a 12 bolt. Here are some pics of mine. Please dont copy this and Ive never looked at other peoples to make this one so it is not a copy of someone elses. Everything is tig welded and silicone bronze welded where it comes into contact with the cast 8.8 case. There is 3 days of fab work to get everything strainght and we used a axle jig to ensure straightness. All angles are kept the same as the stock rear so you dont need adjustable everything to get the car to drive good. This is a prototype. Here are a few pics. Thanks for any input.

I would buy one if the price is right... I have been wanting to build one up myself with the mini 4link but if i can get ahold of one already built for a good price i can deal with the torque arm setup.
Feel free to pm me with a price shipped to 80465 haha

I personaly don't like the mini link for a couple reasons. The geometry is all wrong for our cars. I've drivin in on that had it and the back of the car jumped in the air instead of squating and there is only 2 little links keeping the rear from twisting out of the car. The same car I road in had the rear lock up and twist/break everything under the car when it went. There wasn't much left holding it in after that. That's just my opinion and why a made mine with a torque arm mount.
As far as pricing goes I'm not sure at this point but to make a guess I would say around $1800 shipped I've got to see if there would be real sales and I would want to do a few at a time.

interested.
After a couple happy customers I think this would be very popular budget option for guys that don't have 3 grand to throw down on a rear end, but aren't dumb enough to try to build a 7.5

Price is not set right now but you would probably get the fabed housing all new bearings, seals. Moser custom c-clip style axles. Rebuilt posi. Gear ratio of your choice.
Options
if you wanted extra cheapo stock f body axles or you could supply the core rear housings
if you wanted better stuff you could get 31 spline trak loc posi or c-clip elims or spool
you must do c-clip eliminators with the spool.
Upgraded aluminum diff cover.

I am very interested and the only reason i was gonna do the mini link was cause it would be easier to build but i get where you are coming from with not much holding the axle in place...

Well everyone knows that the case is all cast so the pinion support is built in. As far as strength goes Ive watched 8.8's go into the 7's at 200+mph. I have no question on the strength. It just depends on how much money you want to put into one. After gear spool and big axles there is nothing else to do to them but go fast.
Ive heard you can get a posi from an 8.8 with the relutor wheel on it. Then I would just need to make a hole for the sensor to fit into and as long as the tooth count would be close the abs might work. I dont have it in mine but I didnt want abs anymore so I would need a test car if I were to do one. On 4 channel it would be as easy as ordering the axles cut to accept the relutor wheels.

Reluctor rings on the axles are for the people with 4 channel, to get for example abs for a 3 channel on the 9 inch, moser has machined the posi unit to be able to press on the reluctor ring.
