Yeah man looks amazing. You give me complete confidence in my build seeing were doing exactly the same thing. Mines gonna be 1" narrow though.

Cool, what did yours come out of?

I got my U joint changed out tonight. I bought the NAPA 447 conversion joint that fits the stock driveshaft and the other side fits the Ford yoke. I will be putting it in the car on Wed. I am going to pull my LCA's out and box them in while I have it apart.

Mine came out of a '81 f150. The tube's shrink down at the ends on mine. But I'm going to be making mine 3" narrower on each side, so that skinny part will be cut off. I paid $20 for it with some scrap metal and used oil.

Nice, Yeah it seems like the later years had the smaller bearings at the end but had the wider housing in the middle. Mine was the other way around.

I just cut some 1/4 plate to box in my LCA's I will weld those up tonight. This is what I call home work....I bring my projects from home to work... I love my job...

I like the old bird by the way...

That should keep them from flexing. Just dont melt your bushings.

By the way what kind of cutting device did you use to remove your stock mounting brackets without hacking them up real bad?

Not cheaper then that piece of metal that he either bought or got from his work.

I like building stuff myself too. I am building my LCA's into dual adjustable with spherical rod ends at each end. Doing my panhard rod that way too.

Any specific year to look for in these rears?

Yup, steel came out of scrap pile. Free is always good. The Prothane bushings just push out of the steel sleeve so they will come out before I weld. I wanted to make sure the rear was square in the car before I welded these up. Just incase I needed adjustable ones. If you make one stock width the one I have is what you want. If you are going to narrow it I don't guess it matters.

In 73 they widened them in the trucks they were the widest housings made until they stopped making the 9 inch. I know 73 to 75 had the big wheel bearings, I don't know when they went to the small ones.

I have to commend you for doing a nice job on getting everything setup. I've been thinking about a few different ways to setup a 9'' after not having the money to buy one originally. I've seen a few people setup their own torque arms on moser housings that eliminate the bracket. S&W racecars sells one that is decently priced that mounts to the housing intself.

I used a porta-band band saw for most of it. If you cut the tubes so that you only have the section that has the brackets on it, you can put it in a vice and it makes it easier to move around the brackets. Between that and a cut off wheel on a grinder I got them off. Also the 9 tubes are bigger round so cut the brackets before the welds and it works out just right for the bigger tubes. I could have taken them to work and used an upright band saw, that would have made it really easy.
