Got it in the car last night....everything went smooth. The drive shaft hooked right up and plenty clearence everywhere. I meassured my axels and should be ordering those today. I will get some pictures of how the wheel bearings and backing plates work for those asking about it. Its really pretty simple.

Awesome. I went to pick up my housing ends today and they sent me the 7900's instead of the 7900fm's. so now I'm even further behind. Kinda irritated but oh well. Got a couple days off so I'm gonna get started on measuring and removing the brackets off the stock rear tomorrow.

BTW I am pretty sure that when you order your axles and bearings together most like to press them on for you. That wont help you any with your brake setup. They will just have to be pressed off.

Quick Performance is going to leave them off becasue they know that the backing plates have to go on there. My axels were $450 with everything. The bearings they are sending have an O ring on the outside so they will seal into the housing. The stock bearings dont have that they had a seal behind the bearing to keep the oil out. I already have a set of stock Timken bearings that I will just have to return. Also getting the 1/2" studs.

Did they recommend the 1/2 studs, or did you pick those.

They said if I ever deciede to go to the track that it would be a good idea. Plus there is a post floating around where a couple guys sheard off all 5 studs on one side. They were both on the street and hit telephone poles. I just thought it would be a good upgrade. They were running stock style suds that come in the Moser axels.

I am going to buy some Black Chrome lug nuts from Summitt. The thread is 1/2 20. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/GOR-91187BC/?rtype=10

About 4 days to make them, then 1 or 2 to ship. Should have them in about a week.

This is some good info.I cut off all the brakets from one of my many 10 bolts along time ago, saved them for the intention on doing this someday. Now I have way more motivation.Good job! Only thing I would do different is set up a jig for the mounts

I dont mind, but the chances of my axels being the same exact length as yours is slim. I am getting ready to go out to the garage so I will get the measurements. I left the paper I wrote them on at work.

If you build your housing to the same specs as the 10 bolt then they will be really close.

A jig would be nice but a good ol tape measure and an angle finder are all I used. I took as many measurements I could and wrote it all down. For the 10 bolt put a level on the rear cover surface and get it square. Then put the angle finder on all your brackets. When you weld everything to the 9, put your level on the flat surface where the center section bolts and square it up. You need to rig a way to hold it like I did with a couple peices of scrap steel. Since mine is the same width as the 10 bolt I measured from the backing plate flange in. This thing went right in the car like it was ment to be in there.

I never even thought to just take measurements and use an angle finder. This is sounding easier and easier. You had said the torque arm was off by an inch,I know its not going to cause any problems if someone were using a stock mounting set up with a bushing, but could see it causing a problem for someone that has a crossmember mount, especialy one that was previously installed. This part I would jig. This is way cool. Thanks for the info and pics as you went along.

I ground off and modified all my stock brackets off of my spare rear yesterday. I took all my measurements with only a tape and angle finder. I set up the angle finder on the pinion yoke face and zeroed it at 90* and then took all my measurements and angles on the brackets. Mine is coming along well. Still waiting on the darn housing ends though. Moser sent the darn 7900's instead of the 7900FM's so I am still waiting to narrow.

Thats exactly what I did Just remember to get your pinion offset right. 1 inch towards passenger side.
