Default going from 2.73s to 3.42s info needed

Okay guys i have a 95 z28 camaro with a 3800 stall converter and 2.73 gears.

and i fell like it doesnt pull very hard through 2nd and 3rd gear and i feel like its the gears holding the car back. Especially since i been in a car with 50 less hp and it seems to pull harder through 2nd and 3rd.

so will switching from 2.73s to 3.42s make a big difference?

thanks guys

I went from 2.73's and a stock converter to 3.73's and a 2800 converter. Feels like a totally different car. Gas mileage didn't drop off much either.

I been from 3.23s to 3.73s, 2.73s to 4.10s, 3.42s to 4.10s, and 3.73s to 4.56s. All good decisions and worth the money for the swap IMO.

Anything is better than 273, they have horrible dead spots.. if you can get a set of 342s for next to nothing go with them. If you are spending money, go with 373s.

Sell your rear and the 3.42 and buy a 4.10. Feels like someone put a different engine in your car. Lol.

410s for a 100% DD suck ***, especially with a loud exhaust. Anything over 55mph is a pita. Not to count you pick up next to nothing at the track with them and extra strain on your ten bolt.

I did this swap as soon as I could after buying my car. Mpg's in town will not be affected, but you'll lose a couple on the highway. Worth it, though. The car will feel incredibly more responsive. I don't know about gains at the track, as I never tracked my car with the 2.73's.

My car came with 2.73's. Bought a take out M6 rear with 3.42's and I really like the 3.42's. Picked the car up nicely and is great on the highway cruising at 70+ mph. Might go with 3.73's if I hurt this rear, but will wait to see how the next round of mods work with the 3.42's.
