If you are near the car open the driver side door and look at your RPO sticker then look for GU2 or GU3. If you have GU2 you have a 2.73 gear and a 2 series carrier. If you have GU3 then you have 3.23 gears and a 3 series carrier.

If the car shifts out of 1st gear at roughly 45mph at WOT then you will have 3.23 gears. If it shifts at roughly 55mph then you have 2.73s. If you can go out on the highway and let me know what RPM the car cruises at while driving 55mph and I can figure the gear ratio from there.

with my OEM 3.23s',before acquiring a ScanGaugeII ( to accurately read rpm and other engine parameters ) and before the use of GPS (to indicate accurate mph), my factory dash gauges would indicate 2200rpm @ 68mph

Put your Vin in here its should give you the RPO code for your gears.

http://www.compnine.com/vid.php

My car comes back as only 1 other car with the exact options as mine.

Some of the info is incorrect though. The RPO for Hugger Orange is

99Q Molding Color, Hugger Orange
99U Exterior Color, Hugger Orange

They are showing

99Q MOLDING COLOR,DARK SLATE METALLIC (99Q)
99U EXTERIOR COLOR,PRIMARY (99U)
EXTERIOR COLOR,PRIMARY,DARK SLATE METALLIC (99U)

My gear shifter starts at 1 and my car does 2100 rpm at 70 mph. I forgot to mention but i have a 2800 stall and my tire size is 315/35/17. Cant see my RPO code cause its faded so im still trying to figure it out.

jack the rear of the car up and turn the wheels if the drive shaft turns about 3.25 times for every one turn of the wheels you have 3.23's if it turns about 2.73 times you have 2.73 gears. Rpms at 80 with 2.73's should be about 2000 with 3.23's its 2300 give or take. One more thing is your driveshaft steel or aluminum? All 2.73 cars got a steel one and 3.23 cars got aluminum so unless someone changed it thats an easy way to tell.

Dude, what is you VIN number? Put it in this link and it will tell you what gear you have, then you will know what carrier you have. Done.

http://www.compnine.com/vid.php

Unless someone has changed the gears at some point.
