Default how much power is too much for 4.56s?

Okay so i got the 4.56s in my car when i was thinking/pretty sure i was going to stay cam only or at least 347ci. Im in the works of having an LS3 stroker build and am going to hit it with a healthy a mount of giggle gas. (hoping for 900ish wheel).

The car is prety much just a street racing car. I cant put a cage in it and there are a few tech issues i cant pass, but is that too much gear? am i just going to blow through them/blow the tires off of the car?

At the track in the 1/4 you would probably need something in the range of 3.75's, depending on tire height, rpm, etc. On the street you'll probably blow off the tires with your 4.56 gears. Bob

If it was only seeing limited street duty I'd put a pro gear in it, but you're not going to hook hard enough on these so cal streets to break gears.

I think running on the street with that much gear you are going to blow the tires even if you run ANY ONE'S ( MT/HOUSER/NITTO) drag radial, and if street tires forget it, also with 4.56' first gear will be gone almost befor you have time to shift you will need to shift into 5 th very quick.
(5/6 th OD- which is going to kill your gearing)
but man that thing is going to be fun to play with, waaayyyyy back in the 60' we played on the street for 6-7 years with a 67 mustang/427/twin 4 bbl/std/4.88/locker/best tire we could find for street( I do miss that)
JUST my .02' Johnny

yeah i figured it would be too much. Im more worried about the car for street racing in all honesty, im not much of a track person cuz the track by me is over run with idiot ricers and makes it just too much of a hassle.

Once i get the motor and everythign sorted out looks like ill be sending the pumpkin back to MWC lol

Do what!? If you can get the center section out yourself you can setup gears. I have a 7 year old daughter im confident can set up gears in a 9". Lol

You are very limited to what you can do with the 4:56s huh? That's why I sold mine and bought a new center section from bob. I went with a wavetrac with 3:75 gears. Should be a happy medium.

Hi,
you can use the racing calculators wallace/etc. 4.56 is pretty tall for your application. I would stay in the 3.7-3.9 range to avoid power loss on the top end.you ultimately make the call/
best
of luck and have a blessed day.
