Default Hope Im wrong, pics of ring and pinion

Please tel me the dude who owned this car before me didnt replace the 3:23 original equipment with a 3:08 gear??? According to my math 40/13= 3.0769... Its a 2002 Trans-Am WS-6 and the RPO on the door is GU5.. I am 98% sure I read the numbers right but please correct me if I am wrong otherwise I need to get a set of 3:73's on order today cause they are working on the car right now..

Well I have a set of 3.08 gears I mis ordered. They will not fit on the diff in my 2000 T/A. I was told that 3.08 gears will only fit a series 2 carrier. I have a series 3 in the car. A series 3 carriers lowest gears are 3.23. So does this mean someone has fitted a series 2 carrier in your ride? and if so I wonder if it limits your gear selection.

I have no idea, the guy told me he had 3:42 gears installed but the diff isnt working (one tire fryer) so we pulled the cover off to investigate and the numbers match on the ring and pinion gears 40 13.. I know its supposed to be a 3 channel rear end by looking for one sensor on top (car doesnt have T/C) but I dont know how to tell what series it is..??

a pic of the entire internals would help, shot directly out from 3 channel reluctor ring/ring gear.

I went to take some pics and one of our mechanics got it figured out we think.. right on the backing plate for the brakes on the drivers said in chalk it reads 98 Camaro so we are assuming its an open rear end out of a V6 Camaro.. Im not sure if 3:08 was an option for them or not though..

I didnt get a pic but mine looks like this one with the center pin and 4 gears around it, not sure if that helps
