Default Gear preference for a 500hp na car

Just upgraded to a 408 and plan to upgrade the rear-end as well. is 4.10 too much for that hp range??? Never had anything but stock. I've heard some suggestion to say 3.73 range because I would never hook up with 4.10s. No plan for spray or boost.

what y'all think?

This is very general, but for an N/A car the 4.10 gears would be a good way to go. Bob

I had 4.11's in the rear i just removed and had a 1.501 60' time, previous owner had a 1.48x so i'd go with that if you're staying in that power range for a while. You'll hook if your suspension is decent. Those times were done on a 275/60 MT drag radial too, not a slick. Just work on your launching techniques and suspension setup when you do go to the track. Hope that helps.

PRAY HRD gave some great hands on advice.

If you are not going to see the track mush and want more of a street bruiser that you can cruise any were I would suggest 3.73 or 3.89 range.

Be sure to compare shift point too then. You might spin higher than he's comfy with. Just sayin.
