Which Brand Gears? Motive? Richmond? Other?
Looking for a recommendation on what brand gears to get. I have a 02 WS6 that is just a sunday cruiser and sometimes at the track. I read about Richmonds and have heard of them but they have gears that explicitly say they should not be used with factory posi units so which ones do I get?

Also, what about motive gears? Are they as good as richmonds?

I have motives..nice and quiet. Richmonds tend to whine from what I've read. All major gear brands are a great choice and yes, they'll fit your 10 bolt. Figure out if your series 2 or 3. Your probably a series 3.

I prefer Motive's as well, I've had good luck with them. There are two different designs. The stock replacement gear part numbers start with GMxxxxx. These are considered Blue box stock replacement gears. They also have an Orange box Performance set and their part numbers start with G8xxxxx. The blue box versions tend to be quieter IMO. To find the Motive gear you want you would put in either GM or G8 then the the size of the rear, 75 (for 7.5 inch) then the ratio of the gear you want. So a 3.73 gear in the blue box would be GM75373, and the same gear in an orange box would be G875373 and so on. You would add an X to the end of the part number if you needed a thick cut gear for a 2 series carrier.

I've set up a few rear ends and still messing around with my 9". If you want a quiet rear, don't get Richmonds. They are very strong and durable just not very quiet. Motives have been good for me, and I think Yukon gears are next on my list. I haven't personally tried them, but I really want to. They have great reviews all around.

So I just pulled the cover and the car definitely has 2.73's.... That definitely means I have a series 2 carrier right??
Where can I get Motive's at the best price? They're $199 shipped for the thick gears on ebay
Also, Strange Engineering gears are $175 on summit. Anyone ever try these?

The gears for our 10 bolts that Strange sells used to be made by US Gear. Last year I wanted a set of Strange/US Gear 4.10s and I called Strange, they said they didn't have any told me they had Motive 4.10s instead. Stranges' online catalog displays the Motive gear logo on the page for 7.5 10 bolt gears. I'd say go to the source and call Strange to find out exactly whose gears they sell.
