Default 9" BUILD THREAD!!! Come check it out UPDATED with pics

Well the inevitable happened and I finally broke my 4.10 geared 7.5 inch rear end. I had one of the bolts shear off that holds in a worm gear for the torsen. Not sure how common this is but if anyone knows I am fairly curious. After some deliberation of just fixing it I decided to go ahead and fix it right and shove a 9 inch under it.

Here is the list of parts:
Quick Performance Housing
Moser Axles
Strange Nodular Case
4.11 Gear
Detroit Locker

Reusing Factory brakes and a UMI Trans mounted Torque arm

Im gonna post pics of the carnage soon!

I have a 4" driveshaft with 1350 yokes. Anyone have experience with fitting a 4"?

And what slip yoke to the trans is a good option?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

if you get one of QP's 1350 series billet yokes make sure you order the strange yoke spacer kit cuz i got mine and couldn't set the preload because the nut was bottoming out on the splines of the pinion gear, they machine further down where the pinion nut goes on, about 3/8" or so

Good choice with the 9. Let us know how that locker works with the M6, I was gonna go that route but they all say not with a manual.

My third member is actually already together. I have some close NASCAR ties and got my third member built and I am not going to touch it. I expect some whine (10 bolt im sure was worse than the 9 inch will be) and I know it will lock hard when I get in the throttle but for what I got the Third member, driveshaft, and 5 gallons of fluid for I can't complain. My main question now is do I try to get away with a 60$ slip yoke for the trans, Buy a conversion U joint and use the stock yoke, or do I need to spend more on a higher rated one?

Im honestly sort of proud I broke it just on street tires. I never went to the track and tried to hook it up. I guess I just beat on it too much.

Anyone ever have trouble fitting a 4" driveshaft?

I feel like you did pretty good. 1.60s 50 times.. Wish I could say that! I Want to get a good 1/4 mile time but the track prep is about 10 times better at the local 1/8th mile. Sadly leaving off idle I would only cut 2.0s or even 2.1 60s

Im assuming either no one has a 4" or no one had any trouble haha

Shepss217 how do you like your spool? I have a feeling the locker will act a lot like it

i don't mind it, you only notice it taking slow tight turns other than that you won't even know you have it

yes you do. Watch close my housing is coming in today!

Old POS is out

trying to decide on colors
As of now the housing will be red along with my UMI Torque arm. Panhard bar and LCAs I want to keep black. Driveshaft is white.

opinions on the third member color? options are either red or silver
