Default Need to sell my Strange 12 bolt........Which is strongest...S60 or Ford 9"........

Well.....screwed again......nobody makes a 2.73 gear for my Strange 12 bolt. So now I have to change rear-ends to get 2.73's......LOL

So which rear-end is as good as my Strange 12 bolt.....or stronger....?
Roll races only....NO drag strip launching.

And fits identical, same measurements....same axle lengths..........as my Strange 12 bolt.

And.....has 2.73 gear sets available.....

Thanks.

Did you end up finding out if the GM 2.73 gears will work? There are tons of sets on eBay.

The S60 is going to be a little stronger but its also going to be heavier than most 9'' rears if the weight is not a concern then the S60 would be a good choice but if you are concerned with the weight then I go with a 9''. We are a dealer for Strange and Moser so I can get you either of them if we can help you please give us a call or pm me with any questions you might have.

The lowest numerical ratio available for the S60 is 3.54. The lowest numerical ratio available for the 9" is 3.00.

Give Me a call if You would like additional information on either.

Well its odd...I spoke to Strange yesterday and today.

They said there is no 2.73 gear that will work in their Strange 12 bolt rear-ends. 3.08 is the highest.

Now thats....STRANGE.....lol

Is there a custom built rear-end that will fit in my F-Body just like a factory rear-end....or my Strange rear-end. Same exact dimensions......and take 2.73 gears...?

How much will this little beauty cost...?

There are lots of different approaches but knowing much more information about how the car is going to be used etc will allow Me to help guide You to the correct solution. A call can take care of this in minutes.

Man...I may have never jumped into this whole turbo project if I knew I could only get to 160mph........
Hell, I go past 160mph now with my ole' faithful 4L60E and 3.73 gears in "OD".

With the brand new 4L80E (Jakes Stage 4) I just got I was told I CANNOT shift into "OD" during a hard run with this much HP (1,000 or whatever it is). So I need to stay in "D" with a 1:1 tranny gear and a 6800rpm redline.

Calling is tough...I'm stuck in the Middle East.

Car in my sig.....
Huron Speed single turbo kit
Should make 1,000 RWHP
4L80E
Street car only....ZERO DRAG RACING.....so about 25.4" tall radials....or Hoosier/M&H type drags.
50-180mph was the plan for the roll races

Yes that makes a call difficult!
At 6500rpm with a 28.0" tire the gear ratio can be a 3.00.
I suggest going with a 9" with 1000HP. Its been done with the 12-bolt but it eats gear sets and is noisy.
I would also get a fabricated 9", there are several companies that offer them and I'm not aware of problems with any of them.

You need to run a bigger rear tire. And news flash, for 1k hp, youre gonna need it for traction too.

Is a 28" tire going to be stable on the street?

Roll races will all be straight line.....but what about slight left and right curves on highways...?

This tire is 30.2" tall.....

With 3.08 gears in my Strange rear-end....it looks like 189 mph

This should stick pretty well.....AND all I need to do is put 3.08 gears in my Strange 12 bolt........

I didn't realize this tire was so tall.

So this tire cannot be safely driven around on the street very mellow....?

Is it a safe tire for doing a straight line roll race....50-180..?

I'm sure it could, I wouldn't do it with low pressure though. You said you plan on doing roll racing so I would think you would be ok if all you're doing is roll racing. With that much power you really don't have a choice unless you want to spin 24/7.

Any radial is ok to drive around being gentle. Would not drive in any rain however.
