Default Upgrading Rearend & Suspension

So just got the car out of storage and I'm looking to spend some $$. I'll be dropping the entire rear out of the car soon to replace the gas tank ( Kooks true duals burnt a spot on my tank)

So while I'm doing that I want to do some upgrades.

Rear end - S60 with Strac? MWC fab 9?
Adjustable LCAs - BMR or Founders?
Adjustable Torque Arm
Possible new drive shaft

I currently have Kooks LT headers with duals, BMR adj. PHB(rod/poly), car is lowered on Strano springs. Ton of other mods but I think that's all that will play into deciding my upgrades above.

I want to build with a max of 600hp in mind, I'm interested in hearing opinions on what way I should go part-wise.

Sounds as if You are going to have lots of fun this summer! The phones quit ringing about 45 minutes ago but I'm up for discussing just about anything. You can call if You like, I will just be in the shop piddling with My pickup.

With reading some of the things you listed above the MWC fabricated nine inch may be your best choice for a couple of reasons. The vehicle is lowered and the way our torque arm mounts that is included in the package gives more clearance for lowered vehicles and we have a few different options for for a torque arm and crossmember. If you decide to go with a short arm we have the proper crossmember for your true duals however you may want to go with a long arm if you are into handling over drag racing and we have that as an option also.

We also give discounts on other suspension items with the purchase of one of our fabricated rear ends and like always offer our layaway program.

Any questions feel free to give us a call. (309)382-6252

Thanks for the info. I plan on mostly street driving and occasional drag racing. My interest is primarily with straight line performance. I like the fab 9 but would an S60 with an strac be a good bit less expensive? I am trying to target the $3k - $4k range including rear, LCAs, torque arm, and drive shaft.

s60 or 12 bolt sounds like a winner for you. Lead time on a fab9 might not be to your liking either.

Our fabricated nine inch that INCLUDES a torque arm and crossmember will be inline to a S60 and an aftermarket torque arm. Not to mention we give discounts on our lower control arms and panhard bar with the purchase of our fabricated nine inch.

Not to mention all the other goodies our fabricated housing includes over any other housing on the market and that's things like 5 hole relocator style lca brackets, stock style anti-sway bar mounts, brake line clips, and chassis brake hose mounting bracket. 98-02 applications also include brake hose mounts and e-brake cable brackets. Making it so our housing installs the same way your factory 10-bolt comes out.

Now there is some lead time with our fabricated housing based off the time of the year but it gets less depending on the season and that is only because we have a hard time keeping up with demand, we ship one to two F-Body specific fabricated nine inches out a day every day and have one dedicated fabricator that does nothing but builds F-Body specific housings every day and it has been this way for many years.

The nice thing is we do offer a layaway program on anything we offer.

Now to the S60 it is probably the best second options for these vehicles especially if you already have a torque arm but lacks in some of the options we offer, less gear choices, heavy, can't put a good cover as it may make contact with the PHB, and based off the torque arm mounting style certain torque arms will make contact with the floor depending on ride height.

I'd call Carl at CRP or Bob at Brute Speed. Both are very knowledgeable and easy to deal with. Most importantly, they respect their customers. Good luck!

Looks like a fab 9 is going to run me about $5k for the setup I want. I have no doubt the equipment is awesome but that is a bit more than I was looking to spend. I could get it closer to $4k if I go with full spool but I'm sure that would make street driving a pita. Got some research and thinking to do....

I just did an S-Trac package with powder and completely assembled and came up with this and the package will take you a long way. This is also assuming you want it completely assembled, powder coated, and retain 4ch ABS if you have that feature.

82-02 F-Body Fabricated Nine Inch Housing S-Trac Package
Vehicle Year 93-02
Housing Width Stock Width
Housing Ends & Axle Studs Stock LS Brakes 1/2 Studs
Powder Coated Black
Housing Options Housing Backbrace
Torque Arm & Crossmember Options Long Arm T-56 Crossmember
Ring & Pinion Choice 3.70
Case Upgrade Strange Nodular
Complete Assembly Yes
Retain Traction Control Or Abs 4CH

Subtotal $4,359.00

This is the same build using a Powertrax instead of the S-trac.

Sorry, I forgot to mention I also included the LCA, DSL, and driveshaft in my estimate. I'll take some time to think about it, thanks for the additional info
