Strange noise?

Strange noise? Does this weird wobbly rotating sound familiar to anyone? It started making this sound recently. I'm not sure if it's drive shaft or the rear axle. Was really hard to capture the sound it's much loader to me anyway. Mostly because I can't stop focusing on it while driving. It's driving me nuts.
My 10-bolt is certainly in question. It's long over due to well explode. Although I had changed the gear oil maybe 2 months ago and everything looked good.

This. My 99's wheel bearing went after hitting a pothole. Instantly started making this whoop whoop sound. Tear into it sooner than later. Go ahead and get a lead on an axle shaft in case the bearing carved a canyon in it already. You will need to know if the rear end is 3 or 4 channel when selecting an axle shaft.

Good deal. Glad it was this instead of a different bearing in the axle. You should have seen how relieved I was to see this instead of more serious issues when fixing mine. Trending Topics

Insane as this sounds I've reused axles with this type of damage as long as its not worn in deep enough to cause a deep ridge on the edge of the damage. I take 400 grit wet-dry sand paper wrap the axle where its damaged then sand it smooth evenly all the way around. Then once its smooth I use 800 grit to finish them. I stated doing this a few years ago when I couldn't find a new axle for a rear I was working on, I told the customer It may only be a temp fix but after over 100k its still fine.
Since then I did a few more (in my 01 TA) The company I bought the used axles from sent me damaged axles. I had no choice at the time to put the car back together so I carefully sanded the axles and put them in. That was 70k ago!
