I have no idea what that proves, other than one would make a fine wind chime.

because oem drive shafts are built so they DONT resonate like a wind chime doesnt mean anything ?

the principle of resonance might be too advanced for you guys i guess... when your only goal is to go 1200 feet in a straight line

Right, it means absolutely nothing when some geek dongs on a driveshaft and makes noise.

That guy. In that garage. Built my car? I don't think so, Tim. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to tell the difference between an aluminum shaft and a steel one. Try your "ping" test on a carbon fiber shaft and get back to us...

I think he's alluding to the OEM DS containing internal dampening which would move the DS's natural resonance outside its operating speed... i.e. avoids vibration due to resonance.

It might not matter in 1320ft, but it matters on roadrace track.

Really? So the tub you started with was built by you as well? Who designed the engine block? Try again

Apples and oranges, bub. I'm pretty sure this particular guy in his home garage banging on driveshafts had zero to do with building my car or any other production car for that matter. I do commend the OP for trying to induce some thoughts on resonance. Unfortunately, his test was moot, as different materials of different lengths will produce different resonances. It may be as Joecar alluded to, but that part was left out of the original dialog...

or driving 15 miles each way to work 1 out of 5 days during the work week,
between 50mph and 70 mph,

take this as a warning for buying ANYTHING aftermarket from ANYONE,
advertisement as "race approved" or whatever phrase they use
is a complete crock of **** and more often than not is HORRIBLE for any kind of basic street use.
