Default Help with S60 in 2000 TA

Looking at getting the S60 from MWC. Had questions about gear ratio. Can someone break it down in laymen terms on the gear ration set up? What best for my mods? 3.73. I like street and strip once in a while. I m getting the PRS05 with the Extreme Tunnel Torque arm. Mods are 90mm LSX intake, Kooks Longtube headers, new 4l60E transmission in 2016, 3-4 CL upgrade, 10" Transmission Specialties torque converter 3200-3500, SLP oil pump, Trickflow billet timing set, cam swap to COMP 275/277 and Borla exhaust.

The only Dyno I had done after the set up showed Max Power = 367.71. Max Torque = 349.73
Max Power = 370.23. Max Torque = 342.06
Max Power = 366.13 Max Torque = 344.53

I think a lot depends on the tire you plan to run. What ratios do they offer? I thought 3.55 was the most economical for off the shelf gears but I think custom (other ratios like 3.08, 3.23, 3.42) ones can be cut.

Some guys over gear their car and make then feel super snappy but in reality they end up spinning and not hooking anyway so what's the point?

Yes, I forgot to add that. I run 255/40 18 front and 275/45 18 rear. Had to role fenders on rear.

I'd put the 3.55's in, that's a step up in ratio for an auto car (the stall will help more than the gear anyway) but you still have a nice low cruising rpm. I agree with the above, it's easy to over gear a car and 3.55's are a nice mild addition.

Have you broken the 10-bolt? what is reason for going to S60?

Thanks for the info dudes. Yea, shop said my TrueTrack Differential carrier broke. Talk to some guys on here they stated to upgrade rather than put money in the 10 and have it break again.

Spankstangs lol haaaaa....classic. Cool. Did you have to wait 4 to 6 weeks to get it? 3.73 is what I was thinking. Reading up on it. From what I understand, good acceleration with top speed too. Heard a lot of guys saying they got a head rush the first time they punched it with 4.10s. I want to know how mine would feel with 4.10s cause my head hit the seat the first time I punched it at a red light after my mods with the 10 bolt. You notice a big difference?

It took exactly 6 weeks from purchase date, but I also sent in my backing plates and had them powder coat it. I'm M6 so I went 4:10 . Waiting on another set of race ramps so I can set pinion angle and measure for driveshaft.

I would go 3.73 for a 26-27” tall tire and really would put a 28” tall tire and run a 3.90 if you want the most performance down the road with 400+whp.
