Ford 9" question

From what I understand you can not get a Ford 9" if you do not have traction control. When I bought my car I specifically didnt want traction control. Now I kinda wish I did get it.

So if you dont have traction control then you can not keep your abs brakes? If I spend all that money on a new rear end I dont want to have to worry about breaking it..... thats why id rather have a 9" than a 12 bolt.

Thats about it. I finally decided that I didn't need ABS as much as I needed a 9".
Maybe some day I will see what it takes to go from 3 to 4 channel ABS.

You can use it but you will lose your ABS, thats what I did. I didnt think it was that big of a deal. Think about all the years that cars didnt even have ABS

No ABS here, Plenty of street driving and no problems. Just the annoying ABS light.

So if I have traction control and abs, I would lose both if I upgraded to a 9 inch? Or would I be able to keep both? Sorry, I'm just confused by the post. Thanks

If you have TCS then you have a 4 channel ABS. In a 4channel ABS rear end there are relutor wheels pressed onto the axles that tell the abs sustem how fast the wheels are turning. If it is a 4 channel you can get a 9" and still retain ABS and TCS.

If your car was not equipped from the factory with TCS it has a 3 channel ABS. In a 3 channel setup there is only one reluctor wheel. It is located on the differential next to the ring gear. There are currently no differentials availiable for the 9" with this reluctor wheel or a provision in the 3rd member to accomodate a sensor.

It is not impossible to make a 3 channel ABS work on a 9", a few people have done it. It would take some serious modification.
