Automatic with 2.73s or with 3.373s
and i would go with a converter instead of gears but either way you would need some better tires.

If you go a converter, there is no difference between 3.46 and 3.73. 3.73 MAY give you a slightly higher trap speed - but thats about it.

I prefer my 4.11s in the automatic anyway.
Proven fact that either 3.73 or 3.46 with a converter will result in negligible differences at the track. Ive proved it. Many others here in OZ have proved it and so say PREDATOR, JRP and COLONEL (just do a search on diff gears and 3.46 or 3.73).
Now with a stock converter the difference is more noticable - just more free revving and its easier for the low TQ to drive through the converter stall.
The general rule is the more power you make the lower the diff ratio you need.
Ive had both 3.46 and 3.73 and for a stocker bolt-on A4 3.73 is optimal for a street/stripper. Strip only and I would probably go 3.91 or 4.11.

The little negligible differences are what make a winning combination. They add up.
