Detroit Locker for 12 Bolts?
BBQLS1 found out that there is a new locker for 12 Bolts. But when I went to the website, it said "for gear ratios 3.08 to 3.90"
So I called to see if they have one for a 4.10, and the guy first said "very soon." Then he corrected himself and said "no." I told him that's disappointing since I think they will sell a lot of them.
He bluntly said "nah, I doubt it, because with the thicker gears that are coming out, no one will need this." I tried to tell him that it's the posi I was concerned about, and I didn't want to go with a spool. He muttered something about the "thick 3 series gears" again when I said I wanted to keep my 4.10s. I tried to understand him, but couldn't, perhaps I am not familiar enough with rear components.
Will someone call Detroit and ask for the scoop on this? I don't want to call the same guy back, he'll think I'm a retard. (Well, I am, but that's beside this point.)

Yeah, you can get a "thick gear" which will be a 4 series gear and it will fit on a 3 series carrier. The guy at tractech also said the heillical posi's they have (no clutches etc.) Maybe the ticket. They have 8.8's and 9 inches going into the single digits.

This helicopter posi, is it available for 12 bolts? I would take this route if so.

I've got one at home to put in my 12 bolt but havent had a chance to put it together. I tried to get a 4 series back in late december but they sent and 3 series and what they told me was that the 4 series was still in R&D and I wouldnt be able to get one until April. They ended up trading me my 4 series 4.10's for a pair of thick 4.10's even. The unit itself looks pretty strong, it weights 24lbs. I guess I'll just have to see how it works when I get it together.
