Default Transmission Gurus, In here!!!!

What does everyone think of this tranny? Are u happy with it? I tried to go to flps's website but did't find anything on this tranny. Im seriously considering this tranny as my clutch paks are going out in my stock trans. I appreciate any feedback about it and how it compares to other 4L60E's on the market... this flp Level Iv is a 4L60E right? so direct bolt in?

In case you didn't notice, my tranny is pretty much toasted. 50 Runs at the Track, half of them with the ST-3500, and close to 38K miles, the tranny's 2-3 clutchpak is on its deathbed, along with whatever else is wrong with it. So i wanted to get an AWESOME BEEFED up version of this tranny that bolts DIRECTLY in place of my stocker. I hear nothing but good about FLP trannies, other companies I here so so things. Cars an every day car, sorry no TH-400's.

go to www.flpexhaust.com and e-mail one of them, I forgot who the main one is who deals with the trannies... <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

The Level 4 would be the way to go

I have emailed them and called them.(left a message today) I just want to hear from the people that DO have these transmissions. Why they choset them? and How would they rate them?

Jack, we installed a FLP level 4 tranny in Angie's car about a month ago. Everything is working out just fine. Her stock tranny was toast (the 2-3 clutch packs were more than likely toast). It is a direct bolt in. The only thing you have to do is splice into the vacuum line going from the back of the intake manifold to the brake booster and connect a line that goes down to the tranny from there. The supply the "T" fittings and everything needed to complete that part of the install. We have only been to the track once with the tranny and it is holding up great so far after about 20 passes.

thanks for that info. I just couldn't believe the other day when i felt my car slipping at WOT. I was struck!!! <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0"> Did angie notice a loss in e.t. with the beefed up tranny? Sounds like this tranny bolts right in which is very good. Does the tranny come with a shift kit? I already have tuning so that might be a problem (line pressure)

No, her car actually picked up ET since it was able to shift without hitting the limiter. She went from 11.35 to 11.22 w/ some tuning and the new tranny. She picked up close to 2 mph.

The trannys do come with shift kits if I remember correctly. It defintely shifted HARDER! Whether that is from the upgraded clutch packs, etc. or from a shiftkit, I'm not sure. I'm almost certain it does come with a shiftkit.

thanks. I was just curious if there trannies came with a shiftkit. I already have PCM tuning through E. Wright. Ed says that he has increased line pressure in my pcm, so maybe I want to tell him to back that off cuz of the shiftkit?? Im just not sure if his PCM tuning will work with that Shiftkit. I'll have to call him on monday. I know for a fact that he did NOT program the tranny to shift firmer, but increased line pressure to make it shift fast. does that kinda make sense? thanks

PCM line pressure won't matter <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0"> - these trannies are using the vacuum modulated pressure control setup (and so am I <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0"> ) as Jason described above about teeing into a vacuum line. Works great.

How hard do these tranny's (FLP level IV) shift? I don't want something thats going to give me whiplash every single time it shifts. <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0"> thanks

I have also been looking into one of these type of after market transmissions. I have problem.z with my car striping the planetary gears or at least that is what my tranny mechanic says. This summer I experienced my 3RD tranny rebuild and am still have slight problems with slippage, do you think that I should check with other companies that offer a stronger replacement transmission such as Yank or SLP??? and how much should I look to pay for a FLP Stage 4 tranny??
