Default howling rear end noise

I have had a howling noise coming from my rearend when I am slowly accelerating in 5th or 6th gear. Anyone know what it is or if its common..any help would be greatly appreciated. It also makes knocking noise when I put it in gear sometimes at a dead stop...any ideas????thanks ahead

howling gears in not normal even with aftermarket gears. the clunk you hear when you put it gear could be either the ujoints are worn, or your backlash is wrong

i have the same problem right now... bone stock SS with 30k on it. M6. Get the howl around 50-65mph only when i put a load on it(give it a tiny bit of gas) and also get the clunk at times.

What steps do i take to fix this? I assume its pinion related.

Ratech deluxe master ring and pinion install kit has everything you need to rebuild a rear end. Buy that, buy some new gears, and get it all thrown in once. To do either one you have to take the rear end apart to some degree.... just do it all at once.

Edit: This is available at Thunder Racing, and I forgot, the one thing you will have to add is gear fluid, and differential additive.
