Question 31, 33 or 35 spline axles ?? 4.11 or 4.33 ??

I'm in process of ordering a new rearend assembly.
After many hours of searching I decided to go with:
Moser 9", Detroit tru-trac posi, with ABS and TCS.
and I'm still debating which spline axles should I go with 31/33/35 ???
and which gear ratio 4.11 or 4.33 ???
also do I need a new driveshaft ??? if yes which one?
Please help make these final decisions !!!
please try answering for all 3 questions, I really want to start ordering !!!!

You have an auto right? You could probably go with the 31 slpine axles and might get away with your stock driveshaft depending on how much power you will be making.

I would strongly suggest upgrading to something stronger though. I'm not certain, but I thought I saw a GP a while back for driveshafts at a good price.

I can't help you on the gear selection. That requires way too much thinking for me to figure out what would work best for the track/tire size, with you having an automatic.

if yor going the true track posi i beleave 31 and maybe 33 is the highest yo ucan go. you you wana go 35 locker and spool only way to go. if your a 6 speed NA car and not going ot spray it id say 4.33 and if your going to spray it 3.70 or so im runnng 4.11 on spray with a 100shot and i dont run out of gear.

I went with 30 spline axles, on moser's website there is a calculator and i figured out each axle can handle up to like 650lbs of torque, so if your posi unit is working 30 spline axles could handle a motor making over 1200 lbs of torque.

Plus the smaller the axles the less drivetrain loss.

My car went 10.71@133 in the 1/4 using 4.11s, 31 spline axles, and a 28" tire. I was at the top of 4th going through the traps. My rev limiter was set at 6600. This was on a TNT 200 shot with only a cam, headers, intake, pulley.

I ran around on ET Streets, I had no problem hooking on the street with the 100 jets, but the 150 and 200 kind of had good days and bad days.

Since you are a 6 speed, I would definitely get a driveshaft.

If i were you i would go with 4.11 and 31 spline. If you wanna be on the safe side 33 splines.

With my M6 im going with 3.73s and 30 spline axles, this way i dont have to shift out of 4th in the 1/4 if i start trapping 130+ on spray.

I went with the Denny's Nitrous ready driveshaft. There may be other options that are cheaper, but I never looked into it that much.

Be sure to get the 1350 yoke on your rear and on your new driveshaft.

On axles I like to go overkill, I dont want an axle breaking and sending me into the wall. I run a 40spline Strange axle that has been gundrilled, and the flange lightened.

Lol i guess so, 40 splines with a 2.97 1st gear (t-56), and 4.11 rear on a car making 1000 RWTQ, the rear axle(s) would be seeing about 11000 pounds of torque, and each axle can handle 12000.

Quick Reply: 31, 33 or 35 spline axles ?? 4.11 or 4.33 ??
