Default Any way to beef up a 7.5?

Or is it a lost cause? I wanted to go with an 8.8, but seems as though its not an option, really, anymore....

My car is a 6-speed, I'm gonna leave the 3.42's in it, and it'll never see any more tire than Nittos...

Nope, do a search, it's hopeless.

Strange 12 bolt is the best option for a mild street car.

I want a strange too, but 3k is steep. Will it hold 400 rwhp on a car rarely launched on sticky tires?

hey Will,
if you are really interested in the 8.8, i can email him and see if he has any more of the housings or rear ends.

here is a link to some pics of them:

That's exactly what it's for. I'd recommend going with 3.73s or 4.11s as well. strages and mosers are strong. But if you're really concerned about strength, get a 9" with a locker.

If you are worried about cost, just buy the Strange housing and axles. Then get a diff and gear set off or Ebay or from a seller selling them used, and put it together yourself with new bearings and stuff.

Figure - $900 for housing and $300 for axles, $100 for gears, $200 for a diff, $100 for bearings and seals - Total about $1500.

Or look in the for sale section for a used one (they are in there all the time) or even for a sale from the site sponsors, I think Tbyrne is having a special for $2200 this week ?

its all a matter of time. its going to cost you a lot of $$$ to beef up your 7.5/8". close to $1500 in just parts. get a girdle and take her easy until you get your tax return and then spend the $$$ on a decent rear end.

just my .02 worth

HELL Yes it will, you can get a complete moser or strange 12 bolt for 2300.00-2400.00, Check the Links I paid 2360.00 for a Moser 12, 1350, 33spline, tru-trac posi, ABS, locally 2 months ago.

Will, is your car an M6 or an A4? i built my 10 bolt, and it took a lot of abuse for a long time, and the car it is in now is abusing the hell out of it too. i had moser 28 spline hardened race axles, auburn pro posi, motive performance 3.73's, and a rear end girdle, the car would hold consistent 1.6's and went many 1.5's and a few 1.4's on ET streets, not spraying of the line, i would spray about .2 seconds out. i could run N/A all day long no problems, and spray in the low 11's with no problem, just getting in the 10's was where it had a lot of trouble holding, but i ran 20 or more 10 second passes on it, best being back to back 10.77@ 130mph. but axles, 279$, carrier 369$, gears 199$, girdle 139$=986$ plus installation and shipping on parts, i had almost 1300-1400 in my 10 bolt. it did a good job, just wish i woulda saved the money and built hte rear end i have now. hope that helps out

Yeah, your times are the best I have every heard on a 7.5. Us m6 guys have a little harder time making it last.

Many pictures of death and destruction with far less power
