Default How much power can the stock driveshaft handle?

I just upgraded to a 12 bolt so I will be launching pretty hard. I have about 400rwhp and a 4000 stall. I've heard of people breaking the stock driveshaft but not all that much. Do you think It will hold for a while? My car is a 02 WS6 and I believe it has the aluminum driveshaft.

Traction will break the shaft way before power. What tires and how hard can you hook?

Can't help you with an answer to how much exactly, I know the steel stock ds's are good for the 9's on a full weight car. If you are concerned about it, I have a new in the box 3" OD .125" wall Inland Empire DS I'll let go for $50 less than I paid for it from Summit. Never been installed.

I'm shooting for 10s N/A so I'm thinking I will need 1.3 60s or so. Tires I'm not sure but no slicks. I also just got some 15" bogarts so I plan to put the stickiest and largest street legal tire I can fit without using a sawzaw. I'm thinking a driveshaft might be a good idea, I just don't want to do it right away.

You will need a drive shaft for sure. At that 60' you will kill the stocker in a hurry. Not a fun day when you launch and don't move. Ask me how I know.

Ouch, thats not pretty. It looks like most of the guys that break them are m6. Since I load the susspension by brake stalling it shouldn't shock it as bad as with an m6 so hopefully I will be ok for a while.
