RIP 10bolt
Saturday at milan dragway I made 1 and 1/64th of a pass and put the 10bolt to rest on the 1/64th of a pass.
First pass I heated up the MT radials (16psi) pretty good. Staged and held a steady 3500rpm, tree dropped and I gave it a slip of the clutch. It came out good but then bogged real hard which resulted in a 1.98sixty foot. I ended up running a 12.5 @ 114.3mph that pass.
To overcome the bog issue my second pass I went with a higher rpm at the launch. I tached it up to @5k and gave it a quick slip. The car felt REAL strong. For the 10-15feet the 10bolt held together it was the strongest launch I had ever felt. Then a loud POP BANG came from the rearend and my racing was done.
Got back to the pits and gave a quick inspection so far it looks like an axle is trashed, who knows what else, I have yet to pop the cover and inspect.
No big deal it was just a matter of time before the 10bolt gave way. Now it's 9inch time.

Here is a photograph of the launch that did the 10bolt in.

Update for anyone who cares, Fracture in driverside axle occurred right next to the splined section of the axle. The fracture seems to have started from the outside and worked itself in. The fracture shows signs of fatigue with some torsional overload in the center. Translation I have been working on breaking this axle since I bolted a set of sticky tires on the car. It occurred over time rather than all the damage coming with one hard launch.

The fracture worked it's way around almost like a stripe on a barber pole. There are machining marks that run the circumfrence of the axle in the fracture area. This would be a perfect intiation site..that and the splines being right there.
