Default How do you tell if you have Traction Control (TCS)?

I have a 1998 Camaro Z28, how do I tell if it has traction control, I do not think it does as there is no switch etc; however, I know when I go thru a lot of water and break etc or on slick surfaces I get a light on the dash that will light up that says "Traction". I need to know so I know what rearend I need etc. Is there a place I can use my VIN and tell?

No traction control on yours. When you break traction, you would not be able to push the pedal down any further, it would push back towards you.

If you have "traction cnotrol", there will be a rocker switch on your dash labeled "ASR" which stands for Anti-Slip Regulation. If you push the button, you will see a yellow indicator in the guage cluster that says "ASR Off". If you don't have the switch, you don't have ASR.

ASR/TCS cars have RPO code "NW9" on the driver side door.

there was no kind of switch, or any indication that tcs or acr? was equipped from the factory... just every now and then the light would illuminate, even while powerbraking i didnt hold a burnout, it would "bog, or resemble the tcs activating"...

My car did the same thing one night while racing, would not do a burnout and it would not launch without bogging down. Anyone no why it would do this?

I think the low traction is when the ABS kicks in heavy, is this is the only time I have experienced the low traction light on my 1998 Z28. By only time I mean when I break on wet roads or gravel etc. Thanks everyone for the TCS info.
