Are you running a 6 speed or auto? Auto will be fine, 6 speed will run more of a risk of breaking. As to what breaks first, it's a toss up, axles, ring and pinion, carrier, diff can go south.

Huge toss up...Ive been running Nittos on my car at the track and on the street for as long as I have had it and have not broken a single part in the rearend. I have Richmond 4.10s and nothing as far as building it up goes either with the exception of a AAM girdle if that even counts. On the other hand, my buddy (andrew20) spent 400 for gears, TA girdle w/ stud kit, solid pinion spacer, and a complete rebuild/install kit and broke it less than 100 miles after the break in period. It was installed by a reputable shop too. Never dropped it any higher than 3K either.

In the end, my consensus would be not to run them until you have started a 12 bolt fund because you never know whether it will last with DRs or not...

Note that everything I said above is based on M6's. Thats what me and my buddy both have. Autos on the other hand will hold up with no problems until you make big power. Hope its gives you a better idea as to what you are going to do!

If you roll into your take off then you are defeating the purpose of drag radials.

If you're gonna use them, then by all means use them, just don't be surprised if your 10 bolt breaks after 1 pass, or 500 passes.

I have a 99 auto (stock) with nitto 555 on it and I took it to the track once made a couple of passes fine and then one night racing one of my buddys in his 72 chevelle My rear exploded stripped an axle blew up the posi unit and sheered teeth of the ring or the pinion. I agree with keliente that if you roll into it you defeat the purpose of drag radials.

i've fried a couple of posi's(used), ruined a set of 3.73's, a couple of pinion bearings i think due to crush sleeves, gonna try a solid spacer now. i got all new internals waiting to be installed. only thing i didn't get was axles. i got a new detroit locker, 373 package from Thunder Racing with girdle cover and studs and the solid spacer. i 'll see how this works

It will be alright if you don't shock the drivetrain.. let the tires spin some and DONT dump the clutch and you should be in good shape.

Ditto the above three times to be exact and add one fried diff and one broken axle, maybe it's time to call exotic and get a 12 bolt !

I'm running barely more than stock power on 245 Nitto Drag Radials, and I broke the posi. I wasn't launching too hard, cutting a 1.978 60'.

If you launch or shift hard at all, it will break eventually.

I think the over all consenous is that if you're an A4 you might be able to get away with it easier than if you were an M6. Either way I think everyone will agree is that either on an A4 or M6 the 10 bolt is junk and will break eventually. When it will break doesn't matter because it will break. Just do like me launch the car on ET streets while saving for a 12 bolt, almost gives you peace of mind if it does break. Just my .02

That sucks, i've beat on mine for 3 years and gone a 1.67 60' best on ET streets and 1.69 60' on BFG DR's with a 10 bolt, 4.10's and Eaton HD posi (1.69 60' on the stock posi).. this was with an LS6 clutch too..

This was before I finished the tune, the 12.27 pass was a 1.69 60'

I screwed up the posi in my 10 bolt on street tires in an automatic car, it clicked going around corners for a while, then stopped. Now it's a one wheel wonder.

Eventually, when I have saved enough and ordered my 12 bolt.....I'm just gonna leave my 10 bolt in and race like my 12 bolt is in. It will just be for peace of mind that if mine breaks, I'm covered!

I love the 10 bolts weight, and drivetrain loss stats

This what a M6 and nitto's will give U.

3500 rpm launch only on stock gears at a unprepped track. (3.42 gears)

O yea, on the 2nd pass none the less, 1st pass from 3500 rpm made some noises.
