7th REBUILD on TRANNY!! Need HELP PLEASE
My trans was rebuilt due to a keeper or retainer on the 3rd gear syncro being cracked. I went to the track on sat and tried to run it.
I have a Cartek clutch. I launched at 5000 cut a 1.6 60', and when I went to pull 2nd, it didn't want to go and ground. Next pass, same thing, but it did not go in at all. ---On the street, I can rip 2nd no proble at all. 2nd is the easiest gear to pull, I never miss 2nd. Only time I had similiar problems was with a Z06 clutch and when it slipped on a launch, it would not go in 2nd. The Cartek didn't feel like it slipped. So WTF??
3rd Pass-- I launch at 5000, 1.6 60', nail 2nd no problem. I go to hit 3rd, and bye bye tranny. Grinding like a ****. What the hell is wrong with my car?? On the street it was perfect. Is the increase load from the launch on ET streets causing the problem. Is it my clutch? This is really pissing me off to no end......
ANY help is appreciated.
I now put down 436 RWHP and 409 RWTQ, so I was expecting it to have run well and have a better ET.
Thanks,
Brad

Re: 7th REBUILD on TRANNY!! Need HELP PLEASE
It sounds like the clutch is not disengaging completely, try bleeding the slave, completely flush the system with new fluid, there may be moisture in the system when heated up it doesn't let the clutch disengage all the way. Also if you haven't done the drill mod that should help.
One more thing if you haven't upgraded the slave and master with the 2001-2002 model or after market parts then doing that may help with the problem. Just some ideas.

I'd get a backup tranny and also not shift as hard. Better to speed shift and live another day.
Clutch sounds like it was not disengaging properly, I'd check the slave and bleed it more too.

Dude, that sucks. Did you have to buy the new parts? If I have to get new ones, I will be getting a different clutch. Why did you have to replace them? If you want, email me privately if you don't want details on the board.
Thanks

Strange ... I've never trashed a tranny, clutch, rear diff, driveshaft or push rod on a road course.
And I get to have 20-30 minutes of contiguous fun as opposed to 12 or so seconds ...
