I went to the chevy dealer and asked them once if they had a program in their scanner to do it, maybe for a cop package or something, just figured i'd ask. They told me the computer would recalibrate itself after the swap...... very scary

You do have to get it recalibrated, the moron at the dealer didnt know what he was talkiong about, there are programmers, SLP makes an overpriced module you have to tear your dash apart for and there is probably a local tuner in your area, they will update whatever you need, fan settings for different thermostat temps, ship shift remover and delete or modify the torque managment.. i liked that one.

You should kill two birds with one stone...get a mail order tune or a dyno tune for more hp, and change the gear calibration while you're at it.

If you go on ebay and find a HPP 3 like i did you can do it yourself and gain a little more horsepower. Im actually getting ready to sell mine but its for a 2000 LS1.

I had the stock 2.73 gears and removed the TM. Made a big difference from a dig and shifting. I have heard that doing this you need to firm up the tranny line pressure/shifts to keep alot of wear off of the tranny. Can anyone confirm this?
