It depends on the type of transmission, the tires you run and how you plan to drive the car. I seem to remember a few people drag racing M6 cars with sticky tires and not too many power mods breaking them. On street tires I wouldn't worrry about it. I don't think I'd worry about it with an auto trans either.

my buddy snapped his with a pair of slicks, a mild cam and a converter in his a4.. but with street tires you'll be fine..

I twisted mine and broke the stock torque arm shifting into 3rd with 275/40/R18s ( I think they were 40s) Nitto 555rs on dry pavement playing with an import. Guess I got smoked. That was at about 6,200 RPMs. I don't remember the issue of GMHP magazine that they dynoed my car in since that was before I bought it but it put down 449.6 rwhp and close to 410 rwtq if I remember right.

1.4x 60' here and never came close to breaking it. i think it will take a 1.30 60' in an auto before you break one imo
i have seen stick cars break them with 1.7 60' - hard shock
