Default Wierd whining..

Just wondering why this happens. My GM 3.73s only whine when I am decelerating and making a right hand turn. All other times, they don't whine but make a slight noise similar to how it used to sound with my stock gears (I really don't know how to explain the noise other than maybe how it sounds when you rotate your wheels and the brake pads are rubbing against the rotor?)

Whining = gears set up wrong, bad bearing, low on fluid, etc

I understand that if they whine, then they may be setup incorrectly, but why would they only whine on deceleration while making a right hand turn?

Fluid is also good. I also used the LSD additive.

Perhaps it's a bad wheel bearing if only when turning...

The first time I ever installed gears I ended up with the same problem....

A slight whine during deceleration and a heavy whine when making a hard right

Turned out to be the carrier needed a couple more shims for the proper bearing preload....

The problem was that the carrier would move while making hard turns, causing the gears to mesh improperly and whine....

My Strange 4.10 gears whine in 5th and 6th, both accelerating and deccelerating. Do I need to have them redone or something?

Tha only answer is take it to thunder racing where its done right . All this talk about whining and gears make noise wrong. I just got my 4.10 gears installed last week and no noise what so ever. Take it to a place who does it the right way the first time.

So that basically means that there isn't enough 'tension' between the carrier and bearings? And that allows the carrier to deflect when I am making a turn, thus allowing the gears to incorrectly mesh?
