WTF is wrong with my rearend?!

WTF is wrong with my rearend?! So ive been wondering if my rearend is going and ive hated the idea of taking the ta cover off and seeing. it seemed to do one wheel burnouts at the track, and sometimes leave two marks on the street. it seemed a little noisey too. so today i opened her up, and NOTHING. nothing more but a bunch of really dark fluid. no teeth in there floating around (unless they came out of the drain hole and into the bottle). ill have the check all the fluid that came out just to make sure. the teeth all looked fine on the posi. but HEREs the wierd part. you arent supposed to be able to turn the pas. wheel if you hold the driver side wheel (in N). i can though! and when you turn one wheel, the other one is supposed to turn the same direction. but mine didnt. i tested it on two other rearends, and they both turned forward, and i couldnt turn the pas. wheel when holding the driver side one. i thought the stock ones were all gear driven, so if your posi goes out, its the gears that went.
i slapped it back together and went for a drive and there is still a little grinding when turning. is that normal?
so whats the deal with it? it acts like it has a broken posi when the rearend is in the air, but i cant find any broken teeth <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

Re: WTF is wrong with my rearend?! We have a torsen differential, it's a torque biasing diff. You are confusing the old time clutch-type of limited slip, where, as you stated when you turn one wheel, the other side will turn the same way. I had my rear in the air and noticed that exact same thing you noticed.....it's normal.
As far as your noises, I couldn't tell you...but don't worry about your tires turning the same way with a Torsen differential <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Re: WTF is wrong with my rearend?! I know if I turn one wheel, the other wheel will turn the other way. I don't know if I hold one wheel if I am able to turn the other one though, never tried that. I have never had a problem with one wheel wonders either....

I replaced my diff with a takeoff unit from SLP..parts cost me $99 and it took about 4-6 hours to put in myself.
(EDIT: im not saying thats what happened to this car, he'd obviously see chunks of metal from the spider gears if thats what had happened)
