9 inch problem???

i am currently running a moser 9" with a detroit locker and 35 spline axles. i have been noticing lately that if i am coming to a stop, if i get out of the brake and roll at a very low speed it is like the rear end catches and gives the car a little bit of a jerk forward.

I am almost thinking that this has something to do with the play in the yoke, but it wasnt doing this when the rear was initially installed.

anyone have this same problem or know what it might be? could it be the endplay in the trans causing something like this?

I've got the same setup as you. Sounds like the detroit at its finest. It's one noisey, notchy, cluncky diff. But when you stick it, its all worth it. I don't mind all the noise, but I only drive it on the weekend.

From what I have gathered. Is there is alot of play in the detroit lockers. If you take the rear off the ground you can practically turn the drive shaft 1/2 way before in engages the wheels to move. And it is a normal thing for them (so they say).

so from what you guys are saying this isnt really a problem....more of a common thing or an anoyance with the locker?

Yes. I had one for about 3 months and then pulled it and put in a Truetrac. I couldn't stand all of the clunking and ratcheting around corners. Noisy as hell.

mine has actually been pretty good up to this point. For the first couple of months it was quiet as hell. Now i get a little whine out of it but i really dont have any noise going around corners......it is just when i come to a stop that the car jumps a little.
