Default Removal of Driveshaft

How do I remove my driveshaft for balancing? It's an 02 SS 6 sp. Any pictures or how-to referrals are appreciated.

Pretty much sums it up. One extra step is to have a clean jug under the tranny yoke to catch your fluid. If its not old fluid you could reuse it. But it would't hurt to go ahead a change that all so.

When reinstalling don't over torque the bolts - they're only like 16 lb ft.

Quick question for you all. Aren't you supposed to be able to manually rotate the driveshaft to access the upper bolts? I'm new to this and can't figure out exactly what you have to do to rotate it. I have the trans in neutral and the emergency brake disengaged. Am I missing something?

If you car is on jack stands you should be able to just turn the drive shaft or spin one of the rear wheels.

*Edit: Rear wheels can not be touching the ground.

Shoot, I feel stupid. Yeah, I have it on a kwiklift with the rear wheels down. Thanks for cluing me in.

EDIT: Right now, i don't really have the capability to jack the rear end and rotate the d/s. Is there another way of doing it other than removing the torque arm?

put the car on the ground and roll it until the bolts are where you want them when i did my ds on my m6 there were only a few drips that came out of the tranny.

if you do decide to remove the torque arm make sure you support the front of the rear end.

I think kwiklift sells the bridge where you can use a bottle jack and jack the car on the lift \. Otherwise, I guess you could get a jack that goes high enough, or place the jack on sheets of plywood to make it reach. The rear wheels only need to not touch - not too high.

I went ahead and just rolled it forwards and backwards. Worked great. Driveshaft came loose with no problems. I have the centerlift bridge for my kwiklift. Unfortunately, I never received a reply from the kwik people. The bottle jack I bought slips like its buttered on the bridge. For anyone reading this that has a kwiklift, just roll away and you should be fine.

I have my kwiklift extended to max length, so I should be able to roll it. How far did you roll it - 4, 5 inches?

Yeah, it was only about half a foot. What I did was first loosen the bolts that were accessible and then rolled it back and removed the bolts that hadn't been loosened. Then I just reached up passed the driveshaft and unscrewed the other 2 by hand. It's a tight fit but as long as you get them loose enough you should be able to unscrew them with 2 fingers. You could probably just remove them all the way out before you roll it, but I wanted to make sure it wouldn't bend in a weird way just in case.
